Privacy Policy

TripScout ("we", "our", or "us") built the TripScout app as a free iOS application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app and the choices you have associated with that data.

1. No Tracking

TripScout does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), do not share your data with data brokers, and do not engage in cross-app or cross-site behavioural advertising of any kind.

2. Information We Collect and Why

We collect only the minimum data required to operate the app:

• Trip inputs: Destination, travel dates, and preferences you enter are used solely to generate your itinerary. This data is processed in real time and not stored on our servers beyond what is needed to display your results.
• Location (optional): If you grant location permission, your device's current location is used only to show your position on the map and provide turn-by-turn guidance while you are actively using the app. Location data is never sent to our servers or shared with third parties.
• Crash reports: Anonymous, non-identifiable crash diagnostics may be collected via Apple's built-in crash reporting to help us fix bugs. This is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and does not include any personal data.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information — TripScout requires no sign-up.
• We do not collect payment information.
• We do not build a profile of you over time.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.

4. Third-Party AI Processing

To generate travel itineraries, your trip inputs (destination, dates, preferences) are sent to a third-party AI provider. This data is transmitted securely over an encrypted connection and is used only to fulfil your request. Our agreement with the AI provider prohibits them from using your inputs to train their models or for any purpose beyond responding to your request.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. The only data that leaves your device is the trip input described in Section 4 above, and location data processed entirely on-device by Apple Maps. No personal information is shared with any third party for marketing or analytics purposes.

6. Data Retention

Trip inputs sent for AI processing are not retained by us after your itinerary is returned. On-device data (your saved trips) remains on your device and under your control. You can delete the app at any time to remove all locally stored data.

7. Children's Privacy

TripScout is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through our app, please contact us and we will take prompt action.

8. Security

All data transmitted between the app and third-party services is encrypted using TLS. Because we collect minimal data and store nothing personal on our own servers, the risk of a data breach affecting you is extremely limited.

9. Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store personal information about you, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. 10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of TripScout after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
